Point Foundation (LGBT) : ウィキペディア英語版 | Point Foundation (LGBT)
Point Foundation (Point), founded in 2001, empowers promising lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) students to achieve their full academic and leadership potential – despite the obstacles often put before them – to make a significant impact on society. Point promotes change through education, mentorship, leadership development and community service training, and provides its scholars with the financial ability to attend the nation's foremost higher educational institutions. In its first year, the foundation awarded more than $114,000 in scholarship money. A Point Scholarship is the most substantive academic award of its kind, in most cases covering the cost of tuition, books, supplies, room and board, transportation and living expenses. The comprehensive scholarships allow students to excel in the classroom, on campus and in their communities. In addition, Point Scholars are matched with mentors from the professional world who serve as positive role models and provide personal support, ensuring that students build a foundation of leadership skills they can use throughout their careers. The Foundation also gives away ''Horizon Award'' to people supporting the cause of LGBT community. ==Partnerships== In 2006, The Point Foundation partnered with the Matthew Shepard Foundation to offer three youths $10,000 dollar scholarships and a spot on the Matthew Shepard Foundation’s Youth Advisory Council, allowing each of them to play a vital role in advancing the Foundation's goal to “Replace Hate with Understanding, Compassion and Acceptance.” () In 2014, the Point Foundation partnered with the Campus Pride to create the National LGBT Scholarship Database.
